I’m just as sick as everyone else about the epic oil spill that’s destroying our Gulf Coast. And the pristine stretch of Florida’s Northwest coast is “MY” beach-I have been enjoying its emerald waters and powdery white sand since I was a child. It’s where I really hope to retire some day. I took countless trips there over time and you know what? I usually drive or fly to obtain there. I have used incalculable gallons of gasoline just to have this magical place.

And as sick as I’m about this disaster, I have to manage one very unpleasant fact-it is MY fault they’re drilling in the Gulf. I’m a client of gasoline. So I must bear some of the responsibility with this horrific event within our history. And if you should be honest with yourself, so should you.

We will power our homes, offices, cars, etc., with solar energy if perhaps our captains of industry and our global governments would take a longer world view than today’s bottom-line. Consider where we’d be if we’d adopted this as a goal during the energy crisis of the 1970’s! We would have prevented this catastrophe entirely because we would not have been drilling in the Gulf (or anywhere else) at all.

So in 2010, more than some other, please consider going for a vacation to the American treasure. Maybe it won’t be the idyllic experience you had planned, nonetheless it will soon be something far more important. It will soon be an investment in protecting a life style that our collective life style has threatened.
